Software QA Engineer

Experience: 2+ years

Qualifications, Experience and Skill Set Requirements
BE/BTech/MTech in Engineering or Computer Science from a reputed university with good academic record
2+ yrs of QA/Testing experience in a quality assurance role
Experience in testing software products in JAVA/J2EE and Web environment.
Working knowledge of Unix/Linux or Windows
Expertise in testing n-tier products (database, business logic, presentation layer / user interface).
Hands on experience with automated testing tools and developing automated test suites across platforms like Win Runner, Load Runner and similar tools
Good knowledge of shell scripting Perl or Python other scripting language.
Excellent knowledge of Internet/Web technologies, such as web browsers, http, and html.
Excellent analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Team player with good written communication skills
Exposure to full life-cycle commercial product development environment is highly desirable
Experience implementing API-level test cases is highly desirable

Knowledge and Technical Skills (Mandatory)
Should have experience in Client server API functionality testing
Experience in Java, Unix, Perl, Shell, JavaScript
Experience in testing of distributed server architecture
SQA experience with object-oriented methodologies
Experience with testing enterprise level applications deployed on Windows and UNIX platforms.
Knowledge of Configuration Management and Bug tracking tools.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for test case development, execution, debugging
Write test plans and test cases from PRD’s and design specifications.
Responsible for black box testing following existing test plans
Analyze defect reports and plan testing activates

* Review Business Requirements and Software System Designs for Testability.
* Participate in reviews and provide feedback on System Architecture, Design documents and Specifications from Testing perspective.
* Develop Test Plans based on Test Strategy.
* Create and execute Test Cases based on Business requirements, Test Strategy and Test Plans.
* Develop or Collect Test Data to exercise the Test Cases or Test Scenarios.
* Develop scripts, utilities, simulators, data sets and other programmatic test tools as required to execute Test Plans.
* Effectively communicate testing activities and findings in oral and written formats.
* Create and publish Test Results and Reports.
* Support Test Manager to identify risks and to develop mitigation strategies. Provide input to project management on risks or issues related to testing.

* Develop strategies for effectively utilizing testing resources to include available tools and other test engineers.
* Continuous evaluation of testing process for possible improvements.

Desired Candidate Profile

TECHINICAL/BUSINESS SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

* Candidate should have experience testing the following types of applications: Web, Web Services, data warehouse, distributed applications and relation database.
* 5 + year experience in managing testing efforts with good experience in Test Planning, Estimation, Scheduling and Test Management.
* Familiar with system architecture and database analysis.
* Proficient with Unit testing, Use Acceptance Testing, Integration, Functionality testing, Security testing, Performance/Load testing.
* Good experience in AXIOM and excellent tool knowledge.
* Experience with testing at different levels importantly - Unit, Integration, Functional/System, Load and Performance Testing.
* Experience in managing Test Data banks.
* Experience with Test Automation & Performance Scripts - Development and maintenance.
* Experience with design, creation, and execution, reporting of both manual and automated test cases.
* Experience with test automation tools (QTP & Loadrunner).
* Good knowledge of QualityCenter and should have used the Test Management process in QC for planning, executing and reporting.
* Proficiency in SQL with Oracle or similar RDBMS.
* Data warehouse experience and with good knowledge of Business Objects & Informatica.

Desirable

â * C/C++/JAVA Programming experience preferred.
â Experience writing scripts/programs in C/C++, Java, Perl, Visual Basic or other programming language will be a major plus .

WORK EXPERIENCE/BACKGROUND:

* 4-5 year experience with Financial companies with good background in Financial accounting. Certification a major plus.
* 5+ years with software quality assurance with significant testing and automation experience.
* Must be able to communicate effectively with other Testers, Developers and Managers.
